      In today’s world, almost all people are engaged in the internet and technology world that most of them depend on it and almost all their life are written and posted in internet. Time may change that people tend to use internet and technology in bad actions such as addiction, cyber theft, and criminality such as child pornography, illegal access, illegal recruitment, cyber-sex, cyber discrimination and others.

          Republic Act 10175 shall be known as the “Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012”. It was signed into law by President Aquino on September 12, 2012. This law aims to penalize acts like hacking, identity theft, child pornography, spamming, unsolicited electronic communication in the country and many more. However, the law came with tougher legal penalties for internet defamation, compared to traditional media. It also may be a crime-fighting by addressing harmful acts committed with the use of the worldwide web.

          In the RA 10175, it includes punishable acts or the cybercrime offenses and liability under other laws, penalties according to the offenses you’ve done, enforcement and implementation, the law enforcement authorities, jurisdiction, international cooperation, competent authorities such as Department of Justice, Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center, and the final provisions. It was approved by Feliciano Belmonte Jr. the Speaker of the House of Representatives and Juan Ponce Enrile, the President of the Senate. It states that if any person found guilty of any of the punishable acts shall punish with imprisonment and it depends on what degree act the years of the imprisonment or fine money.     

          With all these issues regarding internet of cyber world, can minimize or prevent through this RA 10175, these are laws that can help people to be aware about Cybercrime Law, penalties, policies and responsibilities. This law can help people and the society to be secure and safe in all aspects and this law creates protection, prevention, awareness and it give justice to the victims of cybercrime today. Internet and cyber world today are rapidly growing and we know that almost people are engage with it but we also need this act to make sure that all of the actions are secured and protected. This law can prevent or lessen the crimes in cyber world especially in today’s generation that the internet is not that safe anymore and some people has hideous acts behind those computers and mobile phones. And this law improves the security which is supported by many governments such as NBI, PNP, DOJ and other supported the implementation of the law/ act, level of awareness and emphasize the ethical usage of the cyber or computer network.      For personal, always make sure that make your computer or other devices safe and secured, don’t trust anyone who you meet online, don’t give your personal information, don’t post or update your personal life in internet or social media; think before you click, it is better to be safe than sorry.

          These are only my understanding and opinions based on what I read; still, I don’t have much knowledge about this act as the government and other people do.
